Dr. Hooks is an Art of Living Part 1 Course Teacher and a Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES) Teacher. Both of these courses were developed by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living Foundation (www.artofliving.org). These courses share in teaching a very powerful breathing technique which is research-proven to reduce stress in the body and produce a natural state of well being.
The difference in the two is that the YES course is generally taught to high school age students and has been research proven to reduce violent and negative behaviors in teens.
Dr. Hooks is a certified Hatha and Kemetic Yoga Instructor who teaches weekly. She practices Kemetic Yoga, Ashtanga, Bikram and Forrest Yoga. She is also a gourmet vegetarian raw food preparer.
Dr. Hooks may appear to be a guru in diverse fields but she believes that there is one field. At the core of her being as well as ALL human beings is love. The spiritual practices only help to keep the love purified and shining through. She believes that a person must eat the right foods for their unique state of being, be in the right mindset, and only then can they be open to learn.
Dr. Hooks was recently wedded to her Divine Partner, Yumi Stephen Christopher Hooks. They had a traditional Cherokee Native American Ceremony.
“In ancient Egypt a rigorous yoga routine was practiced and Holy Scriptures were studied. When a student had mastered these two disciplines, then and only then, were they taught Engineering”. TLH
