General Intern

One Common Unity, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is looking for interns & volunteers to assist with our projects and initiatives. Our mission is nurturing sustainable, caring communities through innovative peace education, global arts and media.

A grassroots organization with a proven track record of inspiring youth to discover alternatives to violence, we are currently training and offering opportunities for others to become more deeply involved with our work.

We are searching for volunteers/ interns who are interested in nonprofit administration, management and/or development and are able to help with the following:

  •     Design/ editing/ securing advertising for our seasonal newsletter
  •     Special event staffing, marketing, and media outreach
  •     Developing our membership base
  •     Assist in development of OCU’s Youth Programs
  •     Helping to evaluate our programs

Fundraising & grant writing

General administrative tasks

We seek full-time and part-time interns.

We accept academic or course credit.

Preference given to those who are available for an extended internship (6 months or more), however you are invited to apply if you can commit to 3 months.
 




Graphic Design Intern (Fall 2011)

One Common Unity, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is looking for a creative and talented graphic design intern. The ideal candidate would be: passionate about our mission, enthusiastic and flexible, and willing to help out with other non-graphic design projects as needed. Our mission is nurturing sustainable, caring communities through innovative peace education, global arts and media.

A grassroots organization with a proven track record of inspiring youth to discover alternatives to violence, we are currently training and offering opportunities for others to become more deeply involved with our work.

We are searching for interns who are able to help with the following:

  •     Designing print materials (i.e. posters, brochures, press kits, postcards, etc for various OCU events).
  •     Frequently updating social media sites (Twitter and Facebook accounts) with current information on projects and events.
  •     Assisting in the upkeep of the OCU website
  •     Designing online OCU newsletters and other web content.
  •     Researching new ways to improve our Internet presence/promote OCU.
  •     Contributing to other OCU projects and office work as needed (i.e. assisting in email correspondence with potential donors and sponsors for OCU projects and grant writing).

*Preference given to those applicants who have or are in the process of obtaining a degree in graphic design.

Multi-Media Intern (Fall 2011)

One Common Unity, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is looking for interns to assist with our film and music projects.  Our mission is nurturing sustainable, caring communities through innovative peace education, global arts and media.

A grassroots organization with a proven track record of inspiring youth to discover alternatives to violence, we are currently training and offering opportunities for others to become more deeply involved with our work.

We are searching for interns who are able to help with the following:

  •     Filming of special events
  •     Video and sound editing
  •     Maintaining our YouTube page
  •     Helping in all stages of a music CD creation
  •     Assisting in the video logging and editing process of a documentary film

*Preference given to those applicants who have or are in the process of obtaining a degree in film, graphic design, and/or audio production.

We seek full-time and part-time interns.
